Andy is a self taught chef, learning most of his skills from many amazing chefs he has had the pleasure to work with through out his career, and gaining most of his passion from travelling the world, Italy particularly. His deep love of Italian food and lifestyle inspires him greatly and influences his menus.
Before going it alone, Andy's CV has him as the former Head Chef of Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall, in that position for 9 years, and before that at the flagship restaurant Fifteen London.
Andy left Fifteen in February 2016 to start ‘Appleton’s at the Vineyard’, a huge leap of faith and his first venture on his own. Fast forward to 2020 and having leapt again, this time into a new, bigger and more exciting restaurant which is all his! (well - his and the wifes!) and then fast forward to today where they are truly settled in and loving their new home and look forward to welcoming you.
For Andy, food is about more than the recipes – it’s a whole attitude and lifestyle that makes great food the focus of every day.
It’s about sourcing the best seasonal ingredients at their peak, and letting them do the talking without unnecessary clutter and complexity.
Taking rustic, Italian dishes and adding a contemporary twist, Andy creates unique menus that bring the best of Italy and Cornwall together on a plate.
Andy uses some specialist exciting ingredients from Italy but primarily the best of the west and using many local producers to support the local economy. A sample menu is attached to give you an idea of the type of food you can expect to see but the menu changes very frequently dependant on what is seasonally best and locally available, but one thing you can always rely on seeing is pasta!
Your dog is as welcome as you are for Brunch; Lunch or Dinner.
All we ask is that they remain on a lead when with us and of course, under your supervision - and unlike Gnocchi here, off the furniture please!
Not everyone shares our view that dogs should be allowed in a restaurant, to that end, we do try to allocate our dog accompanied diners downstairs so we have dog free area upstairs - please would you let us know if you plan on bringing your dog with you so we can try to ensure we allocate an appropriate space for you.
